The British Army were late to adopting snipers in WW1, but quickly caught up with the creation of the Scouting, Observation and Sniping (SOS) Training Schools in 1916, With these schools and the development of teams - a sniper and a spotter - a British marksman could outgun his rival, operating ahead of the main thrust of an attack to eliminate enemy machine guns and observers.
 
This set contains two figures, including a sniper wearing a camouflage robe (the forerunner to a modern ghillie suit), alongside a spotter with a telescope and scrim hood.
