Turn the heat up with the German Flamethrower Team

The German Army was the first to develop and test the flammenwerfer - the flamethrower - for combat during the great war. First employed near Verdun in 1915 to help clear trenches, the results were spectacular; no enemy soldier would willingly hold their ground with liquid flames spilling over the parapet. Those who were caught in the blast would die an agonising death.
By 1918, the 3rd Guard Pioneer Battalion specialised in the use of flamethrowers, while most Stormtrooper battalions were joined by a flamethrower platoon (flammenwerfertrupp). These comprised four to eight flamethrower teams, who would assist stormtroopers and other infantry in clearing enemy trenches and pillboxes. Often just the first lick of flame was enough to elicit surrender or to put enemy troops to flight.

The Flammenwerfer Team is the latest of our Kickstarter stretch goals to be brought to life in 28mm scale - and we’re extremely proud of it. It comes in three parts: the Operator, his Assistant and a huge gout of flame. As always, we’ve taken pains to maintain historical accuracy, both in the pose and the equipment.
On the tabletop, this deadly weapon has a number of rare keywords to befit its unusual purpose. It only has One Shot - so once it’s used, the team can retreat off the board for a well-earned rest. As a Terror Weapon, it is much more likely to send the foe running from the field, and it will Ignore Cover. It’ll do 2D6 hits with a heavy penalty to Veterancy saves, and it also inflicts a massive three pins - in short, it’ll clear any trench you point it at.
The German Flammenwerfer Team is available from the Warfulcrum webstore now. You can order a physical copy and an STL - and we can’t wait to see how you paint the flames!
