The German 7.7cm Field Gun offers high-explosive support

The latest incredible set-piece miniature for 1918: Spring Offensive has arrived - and it’s huge.

The German Army entered the war with the Feldkanone 96, an effective, fast-firing 7.7cm field gun unleashed in 1896. This weapon fired on a largely flat trajectory and, though ill-suited to the siege warfare of the trenches, proved very effective against troops in the open.
By 1918, many of these weapons had been replaced or upgraded with the 1916 version, which swapped the field gun carriage for a howitzer carriage better suited to indirect fire. At this point in the war, Allied tanks were beginning to dominate the battlefield, so most German gun crews received specialist anti-tank training, and were able to fire armour-piercing ammunition at moving targets - which is a little easier when your target is moving at 4mph…
Our miniature sits on a princely 80mm base and comes with a crew of six. As much a diorama as it is a game piece, it’ll suit painters as well as gamers. In fact, we recommend painting the troops individually before assembling the gun - there’s so much detail you might not be able to reach otherwise.
It’s a beast in battle, loading HE, AP and Gas shells - making it effective against infantry and vehicles alike, while you can also fire Smoke and Illumination. You can give the crew the Tankhunter keyword for rerolls against vehicles, while the gun can be made Versatile for closer-range punch.
The gun itself packs a mighty punch. High Explosive shells have a 3” blast, dealing D6 hits at -1 to saves alongside two Pins. Armour Piercing shells reduce saves by -3: they’re great for punching through a British Mark IV tank, for instance.
The German 7.7cm Field Gun Team is available from the Warfulcrum Games webstore now, as a physical miniature and as an STL. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date with all our releases, and join us on Facebook and Instagram - we’d love to see how you paint your new gun!
